Top 5 Dressed: SAG Awards 2012

My top 5 dressed at this year's SAG Awards goes to....

Rose Bryne in Elie Saab
I always admire an actress who takes fashion risks on the red carpet. Rose Bryne knocked it out of the park in this stunning lace, sequins & crystal Elie Saab jumpsuit! This is my absolute favorite look of the night. I find it so bold & refreshing. And the hair totally works. Love it!!!

 Amber Heard in Zac Posen
This cut out Zac Posen dress is beyond stunning on Amber Heard. The simplicity & intricacy of the dress just blows my mind. This definitely takes LBD to a whole new level. PERFECTION!

Jayma Mays in Reem Acra
This black full embroidered gown with cap sleeves and lace detail from Reem Acra looks insane on Jayma Mays. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. She pulls it off effortlessly. [And believe me, this dress is heavy and not the easiest thing to wear].

Emily Blunt in Oscar de la Renta
Emily Blunt brightened up the night in this breathtaking jade chiffon one shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown. I am such a sucker for color & I am obsessed with this one!!!! Jade looks absolutely incredible with her skin tone & hair color. Absolutely flawless!

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa
Sofia Vergara looked incredible in this raspberry Marchesa fishtail silk satin crepe gown. This woman kills it on the red carpet every time! What is so wonderful about Sofia is that she knows how incredible her curves are & she knows knows exactly how to show them off. Gorgeous!

 Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera
Dianna Agron looks so sweet & romantic in this magenta Carolina Herrera gown. She literally looks as if she came out of a fairy tale. I actually love the simplicity and innocence of this entire look. So lovely!

And the "What the Fuck" look of the evening goes to...

Heather Morris in some awkward leather half short, half long, mullet type dress thing.
...Exactly!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Wishing you all a fabulous & glamorous weekend!

Florals

I can never get enough of floral. Especially floral patterns of the shabby chic persuasion. It is the epitome of girly girl and I love everything about it. A lot of people think that floral can only be worn during spring & summer. This is completely FALSE. Floral is great year round. And don't you forget it!!! I love pairing floral patterns with leather. It's the perfect combination of sugar & spice.
 1. Equipment Daddy Floral Berry 2. Alice & Olivia Cady Cuffed Leather Shorts

For an even more daring look, I like to pair leopard accessories with my floral/leather ensemble.

Below are some of my current favorites in the floral department:

Lacquer Up in Laura Mercier

[Sizzle, Flamingo, Luscious,  Oh La La, Cabana]

Laura Mercier is launching her first nail polish collection in years & I cannot wait to scoop the whole thing up! I have been a Laura Mercier make-up and beauty fanatic for years. So you can only imagine my excitement when the news of her Spring 2012 nail collection broke. It is not very often that I fall in love with every color in a collection, but these shades of pink are completely and utterly irresistible. These 5 highly anticipated limited-edition shades will be available in February [rumor has it, Valentine's day], at $18 a piece. This collection is sure to get even the most anti-Valentine's day girl into the Valentine's day spirit. And who doesn't want perfect pink nails for Valentine's Day?

Side Note: The polishes are fast-drying and toluene, formaldehyde & DBP free.

Outfit Post

Today I decided to break out my new Gap 1969 Sexy Boyfriend Jeans. Words can not express how much I love these. Some boyfriend jeans can be way too baggy, but these are perfection. It's my sister-in-law's birthday & we are doing dinner after work, so I decided to dress them up a bit with a fun blazer, wedges & jewels.  Please excuse the "I just woke up & don't want to be at work" look. Oh... And the ugly office. :)

Happy Birthday Jess! Love you xo

Caviar Wallet, Smoked Salmon Wallet, Tuna Fish Wallet: Ballet Flats

Caviar Wallet: Lanvin Ballerina Flats $550
Smoked Salmon Wallet: J.Crew Classic Leather Ballet Flat $125
Tuna Fish Wallet: Topshop Vibrant Hot Pink Ballet Pumps $32

Living in New York City, flats are essential. My go-to style flat is and has always been the ballet flat. You just can't go wrong with a classic ballet flat. They go with almost anything & usually are beyond comfy. Not to mention, they are perfect for both work & play. For the longest time I have been swooning over the classic Lanvin Ballerina Flat. But lets be serious... I do not have $550 to shell out on flats. I do not have $550 to shell out on anything. I then discovered and fell head over heels [no pun intended] for the new J.Crew Ballet Flats. Now, these shoes are absolutely reasonably priced, but [once again] I do not have the money [cue the violin]. Come on, times are tough people! This all leads me to my latest & fabulous discovery; the Topshop Vibrant Ballet Flat. These flats only cost $32 and are just as cute as the J.Crew ones. Totally doable & totally doing it! Just like J.Crew's ballet flat, the Topshop flats come in a bevy of fun colors. I think I'm in love!

Top 5 Dressed: Golden Globes 2012

Award season is my Super Bowl and the Golden Globes is the kick off! Last night's red carpet was filled with gorgeous blush tones, fish tail hems & [what else...]  haute couture. I would not say this year's red carpet was anything spectacular. I was actually quite underwhelmed with a handful of dresses this year. But I would like to focus this post on the positive. There were some incredible show stoppers this year.

With that said, here are my Top 5 Golden Globe 2012 looks:

 Charlize Theron in Dior Couture
She can do no wrong in my eyes. This whole look is beyond perfect on her. And she really pulled off that headband without going all bridal on our asses.  I am a huge fan of the slit & monster bow. Perfection. High five!!!

 Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen
Vavavoom! Holy hell does Reese look smoking hot! Red totally works on her. And that beachy-california hair?! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

 Jessica Biel in Elie Saab
I have a feeling this dress will bring mixed reviews. I think it is absolutely stunning. I have a major infatuation with lace/vintage inspired dresses. This is just breathtaking. I mean, who doesn't love Elie Saab?? I am also a huge fan of her hair color.  It looks incredibly rich. Ugh I just love this look!

Shailene Woodley in Marchesa
I love this Marchesa dress on Shailene. It is completely age appropriate and fits her like a dream! This is by far one of my favorite dresses of the night. She looks fab!

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu
I love the simplicity and uniqueness of this dress. There was nothing else like it last night & Michelle Williams really shined in it. I really admire the fact that she stays true to her own style. You can tell she looked totally comfortable and just owned it. It was definitely a risky choice, but it worked & I loved it! I especially love the headband on her. She is always a favorite of mine!

Okay, I know I was only going to list my top 5 dresses, but there is one person in particular who's dress I could not leave out...

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Now this is what I call "dressing for your figure!" Octavia Spencer looks so fierce in this Tadashi Shoji dress. It hugs & accentuates all the right curves! In my opinion, she could not have picked a more flattering silhouette, style & color. You go girl!!

Brian Atwood Aura Polka-Dot Calf Hair Sandals

I love me some polka dots! It is a pattern that majorly brings me back to my younger years. I mean, lets be serious here... Who doesn't love a good polka dot? I am most coveting the Dr. Martens Grace Bow Boot. It comes with 2 different laces, white & black [both polka dot of course]. It's very rebel without a cause meets Sound of Music. Yes, that was a movie quote from "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," if you didn't get it... shame on you! I find myself to be very intrigued by bowties. Who says men are the only ones who can wear this fun & fancy trend? I am all about it for the ladies. I espeically love this one from ASOS. Besides the adorable polka dots, the faux pearl detail in the middle is so precious!

Whats in My Cosmetic Bag.

Many people ask me about the products I use on my face. Lets be serious, I have soooooooo much make up that I don't know what to do with it. I figure I should start with the staples. What better way to share them than to break down my entire cosmetic bag full of goodies that I use on a daily basis. I could go on about this for days....

  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner [in black ink]: This stuff is no joke! When Bobbi says long-wear, she means it. I've tried quite a few different gel liners.. Most of them get dried out really quickly [MAC cough::cough]. I've had this Bobbi Brown pot for a while and it is still good as new. You can do pretty much anything with this liner and you don't have to worry about it smudging. Just make sure you use the right brush for the look you are trying to achieve.
  • Nars #2 Brush: I love this brush. Not only is it great for gel liners, but it's great to use wet with eye shadow. This brush allows you to make any eyeshadow your eyeliner bitch.
  • Laura Mercier Baked Eye Shadow [in ballet pink]: This is such a sweet color. I use this shadow everyday just to add a little oomph to my eyes. It is fabulous on it's own and even more fabulous when mixing with other shadows for a more dramatic look.
  • Benefit Cosmetics Posietint Lip & Cheek Stain: I have been using this product for quite a few years. I mainly use it on my cheeks for a sweet rosy pink look. It lasts all day long! You can use it on your lips too. Just sweep some on, add a clear gloss and you are ready to go!
  • Benefit Cosmetic Erase Paste: This my friends is the holy grail of concealers!  I have endlessly searched high & low [and spent hundred of dollars over the years] searching for the perfect concealer. This is the only one that I have found  that completely conceals those dark circles and brightens up your entire eye without looking caked on or making your dark circles look worse. It's great to cover blemishes as well. If I had to choose one product out of my whole make up bag that I could not live with out.. Hands down this would be it! It's AMAZING!!!
  • NARS Multiple Multi-Purpose Stick [in luxor]: This stick is super fun. I use it to highlight my T zone. It can be used for your eyes, lips, cheeks & body. It adds the perfect amount of illumination. So pretty when it hits the light.
  • NARS Bronzing Powder [in laguna]: This is the only bronzer I will ever use. It's been a staple in my cosmetic bag for as long as I can remember. It's great for contouring and really gives you that perfect sun-kissed look without the Snooki effect.
  • Laura Mercier Travel Brush Set: I buy this set every year during the holiday season. Each brush is double sided. It has EVERYTHING you need! And the brush is of fantastic quality. Plus, it comes in an adorable case.
  • NARS Lipstick [in Schiap]: My FAVORITE lipstick of all time! The color is so bold and incredibly rich. Stays on for hours. The color is matte and looks great on its own, but I like to add a clear gloss on top to give it an extra boost! I love throwing this on when I'm wearing a completely natural look with the rest of my make up. It's quite the show stopper!
  • Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer [in bare radiance]: This tinted moisturizer is AMAZING. It is extremely lightweight and gives you a beautiful dewy complexion [without being greasy]. A huge plus with this product is that it has SPF 20, which is super important! We need to protect our skin from those terrible rays! I will not leave my apartment without this on my face. I recommend it to everyone!!!!
  • NARS Sheer Matte Foundation [in punjab]: I usually don't wear much foundation. But when I do, this is what I wear. I like to mix it in with my Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer for a more finished look. This is usually for night time. My biggest fear when it comes to foundation is it looking cakey. Fear not, this product is cake free!
  • Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara: The name of this mascara says it all. It lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates your lashes. It is a dream come true. The shape of the brush is quite unique and really helps to get your lashes under control and looking their best. I like to do 3 coats on my lashes.
  • Henri Bendel Cosmetic Bag: Of course you need a great durable bag to hold on to all of your most precious cosmetic possessions. I love all the Henri Bendel Cosmetic Bags. The quality of the bag is fantastic, and it is super easy to clean! I highly recommend!!!

Rooney Mara: The Modern-Day Audrey Hepburn

Need I say more?

What's the Plan?

The one thing I look forward to every new year is picking out my new planner.  I don't know about you, but I feel completely disheveled without one!  Everyone tells me; "You have an iPhone and a MacBook... a planner is totally pointless!" Yes, I realize this is a very technologically advanced time we live in, but a planner is one thing that should never be compromise. There is nothing more soothing than whipping out your planner and jotting things down. Lets face it, life can get a bit hectic. To me a planner equals sanity!
