Thakoon x NARS

Based off the Thakoon Spring 2012 runway, Thakoon Panichgul collaborated with the NARS to create this limited-edition collection of polishes based off of the colors from his spring runway show.

“The prints in that collection were inspired by the rich color palette of India — the spices, the holy festivals,” Panichgul told T Magazine.

It's official... I am OBSESSED & need every single color in this collection STAT! It is nearly impossible to choose a favorite. Not to single one polish out [considering I am obsessed with this collection as a whole], but tangerine is so major for Spring! I guarantee you this will be the first color to sell out. You might want to get on it...

I don't know about you, but I am pretty sure Tory Burch did this exact same espadrille last year. Actually, I am positive she did this exact shoe last year. How do I know you ask... I personally bought & returned them [tuna fish wallet problems]! I guess it did so well this year that she decided to bring it back. But it looks like someone else is trying to claim it as it's own. Over the years I have developed a major affinity for elephants. They are such peaceful, beautiful & fascinating creatures. My dream is to one day go to Thailand and visit an elephant sanctuary [and possibly bring one back with me]. Did you know that elephants can bring harmony to your home and life? We used to have quite a few around my house growing up and I never realized the meaning behind them until I got older. My mother-in-law has an unbelievable elephant collection. I'm not one to brag, but It's pretty incredible and will put all of yours to shame [guaranteed]! When it comes to elephants, I don't discriminate. I love them all! But if it is luck you are looking for, you want the trunk up! Above are some of my favorite elephant home decor pieces. Of course the majority of them are Jonathan Adler. Who could resist??

Designer Alert: Laura Vela

Handbag designer Laura Vela is a designer to watch. Her Spring/Summer 2012 collection has already stirred up some major buzz in the fashion industry. Worn by the likes of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively & Olivia Palermo. 

Laura Vela, a native of Spain, moved to New York City upon graduating from the prestigious ESADE Business School in Spain. She is currently enrolled in Parsons New School of Design. In between, this little lady studied the use of leather & textiles in Argentina, under craftsmen from world renown tanneries.

Laura Vela made her mark this past year during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. She was the youngest of a select group of up and coming designers to showcase as part of the Accessories Exhibit during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2011/2012. Oh, and did I mention that Laura is only 25 years old? It's mind blowing how much this little lady has accomplished in such little time! And to catch the eye of Anna Wintour? Holy hell raiser that's amazing! The smallest of compliments from Anna Wintour is a pretty huge deal, don't you think??

 

Okay, so lets get to the bags, shall we?

Let me first start off by saying.... I am completely OBSESSED! The second her bags & I made eye contact, I knew we would be best of friends. Such good friends that I couldn't even leave without taking one home with me.

PSA: Accessorizing For Your Own Protection.

So some mentally unstable homeless man tried attacking me the other day as I was walking to the subway [don't tell my mom, she would freak the f out]. Luckily I got away, but it got me thinking... What if he actually did come in contact with me? Let's be real here... I am one tough cookie and I don't get scared much living in NYC, but that shit was scary! What does a cute girl with an athletic background in the sport of high speed shopping do in a situation like this?  I first thought about mace, but who really has the time in a scary situation to fish out a small thing of mace out of a huge Louis Vuitton? Not happening. But then it came to me... ACCESSORIES!!!!! I could totally whoop some mentally unstable homeless ass in some spiked accessories. Thank goodness spikes are in!

DIY: Embellished Blazer

My friend Marion is as creative, eclectic & chic as it gets. I swear, the highlight of my morning is seeing what she is wearing [sad, but true]. And today I was completely blown away by her embellished blazer that she made herself! I always get excited over DIY projects and there is nothing I love more than using your creative juices, especially when it comes to fashion & styling.

Amazing, right?! And it's really not that difficult to make either!  Now lets discuss execution..

The rest is up to you! There is no right or wrong. Use your own style & judgement to adorn your blazer the way you see fit. A lot of appliqués & trims can be glued on with fabric glue. But sewing the heavier ones to secure them is highly recommended!

Side Note: My favorite place to shop for appliqués & trims is M&J Trimming. M&J Trimming is the Taj Mahal of trimming stores. There are tons of other small stores in that area that sell them as well, so I suggest exploring. It's a great area to take a stroll through before beginning a new DIY adventure!

L’Odyssée de Cartier

Have you seen the L’Odyssée de Cartier short film? If you have or have not, I suggest you watch it below.  It is too incredible not to miss. Being in production myself makes this that much more fascinating. This stunning video took two years to complete! I don't even want to know how much this cost to make. Okay, that's a lie... I totally want to know and intend to find out!

This NYC weather has been completely toying with my emotions. One day it feels like spring is looming & the next it feels like winter is just beginning.
