Feeling Grungy

Honestly, 90's grunge is my all time favorite era. There is something about just not giving a fuck that completely resonates with me. Not to mention that the music was & still is epic. I still listen to all 90's alternative/grunge on a regular basis. It's kind of a problem..

Grunge is the perfect example of how music completely influences fashion.  

Flannels, T-shirts [that look like they haven't been washed in ages], ripped jeans, ripped shorts, Dr. Martens & chucks were strict uniform.

I am completely digging the fact that Miley Cyrus & Mary Kate Olsen are in touch with their grunge side. My love for them has hit a whole new level.

I have decided that it is time to bring grunge back...

Packing Guide: Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is this coming weekend and you know what that means.... Summer is officially here! Where ever you are heading this weekend - a fabulously packed bag is essential!

This bitch is pasty as ever and will be heading out to Jersey to soak up the sun by the pool. What are your Memorial Day Weekend plans?

Hello Kitty for Hanky Panky

Last night was quite the magical evening. Not only did I get to spend a fabulous evening with my friend Sarah [saved by fashion], but I got to spend an evening with someone I have admired longer than I care to admit.... the one and only Hello Kitty!  [Guess I can scratch that off my bucket list]. Jealous?!?!

If you look closely at the picture, you will notice a step & repeat that says "Hanky Panky for Hello Kitty." So why were we hanging out with a monster sized Hello Kitty [god bless the person wearing this Hello Kitty get-up] with an awkward step & repeat in the background? You guessed it... Hanky Panky & Hello Kitty have collaborated for an adorable collection of intimate apparel. 

What more could a girl ask for?

This collection features lace thongs and boyshorts adorned with crystal Hello Kitties, and a bralette and panty set covered in a Kitty print--all of it ranging from $27 to $98 and hitting hankypanky.com and sanrio.com on May 25.

Newest Addition.

"Welcome to my closet..." is a fun little series where I like to introduce you to my newest closet additions.

How fun is this cut-out skull tee from Zara? Sliiiiightly obsessed with it. It's kind of scary & awesome at the same time. It's always fun surprising people with the unexpected. I love pairing this top with a leather jacket. At first it seems like a normal casual white tee, but then you take your jacket off and BAM!!! Scary skull in your face! I bought it about three weeks ago at the Zara flagship store on 5th avenue [which btw is the most aaaaamazing Zara ever!].

I've been searching & searching for it since for a friend of mine and I've only found this heart/ribs cut-out tee at Zara.

 I'm totally digging this one too [especially in black]. It would be killer with a hot pink tank underneath. What do you think? I am thinking I may have to go back to Zara & pick that bad boy up.

Splurge vs Steal

I have been going bonkers for these Miu Miu Cat-Eye Tortoiseshell Acetate Sunglasses, bonkers! ... Until I saw the price tag - this tends to be a reoccurring theme. The Miu Mius will only run you about $390... No big deal, right? WRONG!!! There is no way in hell I could bring myself to spend nearly $400 on a pair of sunglasses. That is just absurd on so many levels. BUT I am still desperate to get the look. This brings me to the ASOS Oversized Retro Sunglasses. For a whopping $22 bucks, you get the Miu Miu metal bridge style, without the Miu Miu price tag. Now that's what I call a win win situation!

2012 Met Gala

Gorgeous A-listers, genius designers & over the top fashion. What more could a fashion obsessed girl like me ask for? The Met Gala is one of my all time favorite fashion events. Period. Dip-Dye Denim

Lately I have seen so many blogs & websites showing you how to dip-dye your own jeans [see here, here & here]. I am not going to lie... I am the first one to get excited over DIY projects, but not everyone is DIY savvy [and then there are those of us who are just plain lazy like yours truly]. But in this instance it's not my laziness that is holding me back. There is something about playing with bleach that is just don't find very appealing. Maybe it's because I know I am accident prone & don't feel like bleaching my skin a la Michael Jackson -may he RIP!  Well fear not my non-DIYers/lazy-DIYers/bleach phobic friends... My Custom Header by EmmaKisstina

I don't think words can truly express how in love & blown away I am with my new blog header by Kristina Hultkrantz of EmmaKisstina! We worked on this header together for over a month. A very exciting month, I must say! By the way, Kristina is in Stockholm, Sweden - so we worked on this project solely through email.  I wanted to share with you the process of how this header came about.

It all started with inspiration boards. I simply put together three boards that I felt really described me & showed my personal style.

From the inspiration boards above - Kristina hit me back with this very rough sketch.

The moment I saw these sketches I knew exactly what direction I wanted to go in. It was really important that my true personality & aesthetic showed as well as my love for shopping, fashion & all things NYC! And from that, came this!

Next came the colors & the sprucing up!

And I am sure you can guess what that turned into.... 

I love my header so much that I had Kristina turn it into a print. That way I can hang it over my desk and look at it all the time. Kristina is a creative genius filled with incredible talent & an absolute pleasure to work with. If any of you are looking for a custom headers or prints, Kristina is your girl!

I find the drop-waist dress absolutely precious, but I am not sure my curves feel the same way. Is it just me of to you feel like you have to have a curve-less boyish figure to pull off all of these new trends? Let's talk peplum - I have been completely obsessed lately, but my curves don't seem to agree. My curve & peplum have met on multiple occasions & just never seem to see eye to eye. [Totally depressing if you ask me]. But I must stress - curves are awesome! All women should embrace & be proud of their curves. [Yes, I just had a Spice Girls moment - Girl Power!] But when it comes to certain trends my curves do get in the way. Okay, time to get back to the trend at hand - the drop-waist dress. What are you thoughts? Can you have curves and still pull this look off? The three dresses above [listed in true Caviar Taste, Tuna Fish Wallet fashion] are currently on my radar. I saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs Flavin dress this past weekend at Saks. It is freakin' adorable in person! But I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about trying it on. I blame the apprehension on PTPS - Post Traumatic Peplum Stress! I have been deeply regretting my decision to not give it a go ever since. It is time to get over my fears & face my PTPS head on. I will attempt the drop-waist dress!
