I.N.C. International Concepts Fall 2012 Ambassador

So there has been a lot of talk lately about Macy's  newest I.N.C. International Concepts ambassador. If you haven't heard, I'll give you a few hints. 

1. She is absolutely stunning. [shocking, I know...]
2. She is a Brazilian [no, it's not Gisele.]
3. She just tied the knot to long time boo Matthew McConaughey. [not too shabby, eh?]

Assuming you don't live under a rock... You guessed it! The gorgeous Camila Alves (now McConaughey!) is the new face of Macy's I.N.C. International Concepts Fall 2012 collection.

Thanks to I Heart Heels, I was lucky enough to attend a very special private party - the unveiling of Camila Alves' stunning I.N.C. International Concepts campaign.

The event took place at NYC hotspot No. 8 [formally Bungalow 8]. The place was filled with palm trees, mirrored cocktail bars & an upstairs DJ booth over looking it all. It was a bit cramped, but what do you expect? Among the crowd was model Coco Rocha. Let me just say, she is absolutely beautiful in person & extremely down to earth.

Okay let's get back to the lady of the evening [& her devastatingly handsome counterpart].  So here is the play by play...

Nancy Slavin, SVP of Marketing at Macy's had the honor of introducing the lady of the evening & presenting the crowd with the first glimpse of Camila's campaign.

Camila & husband Matthew McConaughey made their way out to the crowd. As Camila did her thing Matthew looked on with crazy love & admiration. I've never seen anyone more proud of their wife. Besides the fact that the campaign is unbelievably stunning, you can really just tell how in love with each other Matthew & Camila are. I mean, It oozes out of their pores. It really was a treat to see. There is so much talk in the tabloids of celebrity marriages & relationships falling apart. After the constant articles & rumors of hollywood big shots cheating and/or divorcing [cough cough Kristen Stewart & Katie Holmes], to see the two of them together and so in love was really something special.

After the unveiling of the campaign Camila & Matthew proceeded to their designated reserved table to revel in the success of the evening. Of course everyone [but myself] was standing around taking photos of them as if they were caged animals in the Central Park Zoo. But hey, I guess that's what happens when you are an unbelievably beautiful Brazilian model married to one of the hottest A-listers in Hollywood.

If you could describe one particular color as cool & breezy aqua would be it. It is the ultimate color of tranquility [to me at least]. I particularly tend to flock to this color on gorgeous NYC days like today. This morning was 67 degrees & sunny - talk about an amazing summer day! Anywho... above I have provided you with my current aqua covets. 

I am particularly obsessed with J.Crews new Printed Scarf. How fabulous is it?! You better believe this will be mine next paycheck. 

I must also touch on the Dooney & Bourke Happy Bag. I have felt over the years that Dooney & Bourke has become a major drag, but that is until I laid eyes on this baby. Dooney & Bourke has totally redeemed itself with this bag [and if aqua is not your color, it comes in many others].

Allow me to introduce to you my newest bauble obsession Bing Bang NYC.

How insanely awesome are the pieces above? What I love most about their aesthetic is the hardcore/punk-ness & their ability to keep it dainty & sweet - the ultimate sugar & spice! And the prices ain't bad either. On a scale from caviar to tuna fish, I give it a smoked salmon. I would be lying if I said I didn't need EVERYTHING!

I was going to write my own little  blurb about Bing Bang, but have written such a perfect "About Bing Bang" that I would prefer you hear it from them yourself.

My Favorite Fall 2012 Ad Campaigns

When I was younger I used to skip over ad campaigns in magazines as if it were the plague. I remember always being annoyed by the hundreds of pages of "crap" that got in the way of the articles I so desperately wanted to read. Ironically, I now work in advertising & have been working in an ad agency for the past 4 years. Over the years I have really come to appreciate these campaigns on an entirely different level. You know what they say... A picture is worth a thousand words!

The Underground New York Public Library

While riding the subway, I am constantly observing my surroundings. I must admit, I have become quite the exquisite people watcher over the years. I have been known to be very alert of my surroundings visually & audibly. One thing that always catches my eye while riding the subway are people reading books. Have you ever wondered what your neighbor is reading on the subway?

Photographer Ourit Ben-Haim's current photography project, The Underground New York Public Library, does just that. The UNYPL is a photo series featuring "Reading-Riders of the NYC subways."

"The Underground New York Public Library is a photo series featuring the Reading-Riders of the NYC subways. The photos come together as a visual library. This library freely lends out a reminder that we’re capable of traveling to great depths within ourselves and as a whole." 

 

What I love about her photographs is the realness & vulnerability she has captured. It's amazing to see so many different people from all walks of life doing the same thing - reading books.

I must admit, I am guilty of owning an Amazon Kindle. I absolutely love the ease of it, but honestly nothing beats the feeling of turning the pages of an actual paper book.

Ourit's photography has really inspired me to read more books on a regular basis. I genuinely enjoy reading & have always considered reading a book to be the perfect way to spend some quality alone time with yourself. 

Which brings me to the current book I am reading.

Yes, I realize the collection below is from Stella's SS 2011, but I still can't seem to get it out of my head. It is one of those collections that grabs & inspires you for seasons to come. I must admit, I am still kicking myself for not taking advantage of this Stella McCartney collection sale on the Outnet this past March. I often look back at that moment and wonder... What was I thinking?

Do or Don't: Leather Shorts for Summer

Leather shorts for summer has been quite the topic of conversation lately. And personally, I don't hate it... I kind of love it! I honestly never put much thought into rocking leather shorts during [what I like to call] "shvitz" season.. But hey, we are all going to shvitz to death anyways, why not look hot while struggling through the inevitable heat? Oh and leather shorts are a fabulous transition piece into fall. 

It's pretty much a win win if you ask me.

Side-note: If you are as awesome as I am & rocking a tuna fish wallet [or even vegan], you can still make this trend work. It's all about the faux.
