Happy Thursday

And now for a little Disney magic to get you through the end of the week...

Isn't this Disney animated short incredible? I love that the only hint of color in this entire film is her red lipstick on the piece of paper. It completely blows my mind!

Here is some fun background info for all of you animation geeks out there:
"Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman." Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, "Paperman" pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction."

Shop My Closet: Copious

Well my friends, the day has come. The one day I have been avoiding like the plague, or rather the flu. The day I clean out my closet. And you, my friends, get to reap the benefits. Starting today you can "Shop My Closet" on  Copious

Unfortunately these things take time. So as I go through the endless pits of my closet, I will be adding items to my "Copious Closet." These duds are in use of a good home. And if you read my blog, I trust your home [closet] is up to my "rehoming" standards. So follow along & shop til you drop.

Not familiar with Copious? It's bomb dot com. Copious is an online social marketplace where you can follow & interact with sellers through your feed. Your feed is a place to discover the things you love based on your interests and people you follow. It's super user friendly. And unlike other online marketplaces, which take up to 20%, Copious only takes 6% of the total price!

All pieces range from $12.00 to $199.99, with most pieces under $50.

Check out the full 80-piece collection, here

Which pieces are you dying to get your paws on?

Here is what I am swooning over.

Check out this fab behind-the-scenes video of the man himself, Mr. Prabal Gurung, at his Prabal Gurung for Target look book shoot.

Prabal describes this collection perfectly as "femininity with a little bit of bite." And boy do I want to take a big ass bite out of it!

Mirror Mirror

I am in the midst of a passionate love affair with mirrored prints. I even have hi-tech mirror effects on my photos in celebration of said love affair. They kind of make me feel like Lindsay Lohan a la The Parent Trap. Such a great movie. Too bad she totally sucks at life now. Anyways... Mirrored prints! They are awesome. When I encountered these H&M pants, I knew they had to be mine. They fit amazing & have just enough stretch for all day comfort. I give them two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Get ready to see a monsterous surge of the mirrored print persuasion this coming Spring.

Caviar Wallet, Smoked Salmon Wallet, Tuna Fish Wallet: d'Orsay Flats

d'orsay

Caviar Wallet Jenni Kayne Patchwork d'Orsay Flats $695
Smoked Salmon Wallet Vince Nina d'Orsay Flats $295
Tuna Fish Wallet Chinese Laundry Easy Does It d'Orsay Flat $59

d'Orsay [ d'or-say ]
noun. A pump-type shoe or slipper in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, and the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot.

I love pointed d'Orsay flats. They remind me of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. Is that weird? I have been eyeing these Jenni Kayne d'Orsay flats for a while now, but could never get myself to actually spend the money on them (not that I even have that kind of money right now). Thank goodness more designers have come out with similar style shoes that are less expensive. But in all seriousness - I really just want to be like Princess Jasmine. And if I can be like her without going bankrupt, that would be awesome!

P.S. Piperlime is offering 20% off sitewide today with code 24HOURS.

Tuna Fish Finds

So I just opened my daily BaubleBar email & was immediately enamored with this featured Gold Button Lariat necklace. How fab is it? I am a huge fan of the lariat style necklace, but these gold pavé buttons bring it an entirely new level. You can totally dress it up or down. And for $38, you can't go wrong! My neck needs it & may never forgive me if I don't make it mine.

Cold Weather Boots

hunter

Winter is in full swing & I am officially freezing my toesies off! You would think, since I've lived in NYC for 4.5 years now, I would have a good pair of cold weather boots. Well, I don't! And my poor toes are desperately seeking warmth & seeking revenge in the mean time. I have been scouring the interwebs high & low looking for a cozy pair that wont completely break the bank. I've purchased an inexpensive pair in the past from DSW & they completely blew! What do you all think of these Hunter Cathie Wool & Rabbit Fur Boots? I absolutely love Hunter wellie rain boots, but cold weather boots? Do any of you own a pair? I just ordered them on Saks.com, so fingers crossed they are as adorable & warm as they look online!

Caviar Reads

While vacationing with my family in Barbados over the holidays, I was able to accomplish something that I rarely have the time to do. Read! And read I did... In six days, I was able to finish three books! I guess that's what happens when you are able to completely unplug & relax.

I love reading books, but life gets in the way a little too often. That's why one of my new years resolutions is to make more quality reading time. And while doing so, I will post & keep you in the loop with what I am reading in a series called "Caviar Reads."

Now for my Barbados reads...

[ one ] The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Synopsis: Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Thoughts: The Fault in Our Stars is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. You can't help but fall in love with the characters & the story. It is an incredibly written roller coaster of emotions. I literally laughed as hard as I cried. And boy did I cry! But don't let that deter you. This is a definite must read! Don't be fooled by the YR genre. This book is for everyone. It will change your life.

[ twoWhere'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

Synopsis: Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle--and people in general--has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence--creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world.

Thoughts: This book was so cleverly written that I didn't know what to do with myself.  I absolutely LOVED it! What I loved most.. You never knew what was going to come next. I have never encountered a book that was so much fun to read. I literally could not put it down or stop laughing at the antics. You can't help but fall in love with Bernadette. A definite must read! I mean how could it not be? Maria Semple, the author, was a television writer for Arrested DevelopmentMad About You, and Ellen. I will definitely be reading her first book - This One is Mine

[ three ] Beautiful Disaster: A Novel by Jamie McGuire

Synopsis: Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Thoughts: Okay, don't judge me. But sometimes you just really need to read a stupid & mindless chic-lit love story. And Beautiful Disaster was exactly that. I really really liked it too. The epitome of a perfect beach read. There were times where the book got repetitive, predictable & you wanted to kill a few characters, but in the end it was a great story & very entertaining. Oh and there is a sequel coming out in April, which I will 100% be reading.

.

Have you read any of the three above? I would love to hear your thoughts!

I am always on the look out for great book recommendations. What are you currently reading?
