Oh hey, Strangers! It's been a hot minute... First and foremost, I must apologize for being completely MIA this past month. But don't worry, I am alive and kicking! I owe you all a majorly overdue Happy New Year. Did everyone have a nice holiday? Here is a little cliff-notes update on my life this past month: I spent Christmas skiing in Vail, CO with the family and New Years in Santa Barbara, CA with the hubby and a couple of friends. It was absolutely wonderful. Since returning I have been a very busy bee. We are moving to a new apartment, so the majority of my January has been dedicated to furniture shopping & interior decorating. From now until February 1st (our official move in date) I will be packing up our lives and trying to get settled in to the new digs. I will share pictures once everything is finished.
Okay, now to the Golden Globes.
While I was not completely overwhelmed with this year's Golden Globes red carpet, I absolutely LOVE the dresses that I picked for best dressed. There were many other women who looked beautiful as well, but these nine women below really resonated with me.
Olivia Wilde in Gucci: Olivia Wilde literally glowed last night for multiple reasons. For starters this bitch is 6 months pregnant! Yes, 6 months pregnant! Could you die? The fact that she this far along and flawlessly wearing this incredible curve-hugging emerald green sequin Gucci gown makes me want to throw up and be her at the same time. Who looks like that? Pregnant or not, this dress is phenomenal. Emerald green is clearly Olivia Wilde's color. Bravo!
Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren: My jaw literally dropped when I saw Lupita walk the red carpet. The vibrant red hue of this off-the-shoulder cape Ralph Lauren dress could not be any more gorgeous with her beautiful skin tone. While it is very reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow's white Tom Ford from the 2012 Oscars, Lupita's look just blows it out of the water. She really made this look her own.
Cate Blanchette in Armani Privé: If you were to look up the word flawless in the dictionary, there would be a photo of Cate Blanchette wearing this high-collared open back Armani Privé black lace and tulle gown.
Margot Robbie in Gucci: Last night's Golden Globes was Margot Robbie's coming out party. Literally! If you didn't know her before, you sure know her now. Margot killed it in this cream v-neck Gucci gown. I absolutely love the jewel embellishments on her shoulder and waist. The thigh-high slit and deep v elegantly showed off the perfect amount of skin.
Caitlin Fitzgerald in Emilia Wickstead: Caitlin Fitzgerald was an absolute vision in this power blue Emilia Wickstead dress. I love that she channeled her "Masters of Sex"character with a 1950s inspired silhouette. I found this dress to be a nice breath of fresh air on last night's red carpet. She looks amazing!
Leslie Mann in Dolce & Gabbana: Leslie Mann was a combination of sophistication, glamour & sex appeal in this exquisite black lace peplum dress from Dolce & Gabbana. She makes me so incredibly happy.
Emma Roberts in Lanvin: While I do wish Emma Roberts opted for a different hair style, I can't help but drool over this off-the-shoulder Lanvin dress. The mermaid silhouette on Emma Robert's petite frame is to die for! I love that she kept the accessories simple by only wearing turquoise earrings. She looks fab!
Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen: This might be my favorite dress Sofia Vergara has worn to date. This stunning Zac Posen strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline is a refreshing change of pace from her usual curve-hugging mermaid silhouettes. The strapless fitted bodice accentuated her killer curves, but kept the look very demure and sophisticated. And can we talk about that eye catching floral turquoise statement necklace? Amazing!
Diane Keaton in Ralph Lauren: Behold, the original man repeller in all of her glory! Diane Keaton killed it in this custom Ralph Lauren tuxedo. I have to be honest, this might have been my absolute favorite look of the evening. And can we talk about how amazing her silver/gray hair is? She is a dream! When I grow up I want to be Diane Keaton. Bow down!
Please keep in mind, best dressed lists are merely a matter of opinion. That's why award season is always so fun. Who were your picks for best dressed at this year's Golden Globes?
