Is there a reason why diaper bags are so unbelievably ugly? Because you just feel so completely beautiful after popping out a little person... Why not throw an ugly ass tote into the mix to make you feel even more beautiful?!

If I see one more Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff, Gucci, Burberry or Prada in that disgusting nylon diaper bag material, I might vomit! Oh, and let's not forget the obnoxious labels. I do not want my baby's diapers to have Burberry checks, Marc by Marc Jacobs graffiti or 1,000 tiny GG's all over them! Don't get me wrong, I very much respect labels, but there is a time and a place for everything - and your diaper bag is not one of them!

Would it kill someone to come out with a diaper bag that looks like a normal handbag and doesn't scream 1) I am a new mom therefor, all my style has gone down the shitter or 2) I am a complete douche bag because I rock labels that are larger than my newborn child?

Okay, enough of the bitch fest...

I mean, you could always go the traditional oversized tote route, a la the Louis Vuitton Neverfull, and the like. The only downfall is that you would have to outfit the entire interior of the bag on your own to fit your baby's needs. Yes, I get it - compartments are your friends! But you know what... It might not be a terrible idea! And I certainly have not out-ruled it as an option. Throw in a portable changing pad, along with some travel pouches as makeshift compartments (Truffle makes great ones) and you just might just be in business. One oversized tote in particular I am eyeing is the Annabel Ingall Isabella Tote in Parisian Blue.

Here are a few other oversized tote options:

As far as traditional diaper bags, I am leaning towards this Henri Bendel Miss Bendel Baby Bag. Because, well for starters, it doesn't look like the traditional diaper bag.

It comes in two color options - orange & black, an assortment of baby friendly compartments, changing pad and removable crossbody strap. A perfect diaper bag option for those of you, like myself, refuse to fall victim to the ugly nylon diaper bag.

Here are a few other options I've come across in my hunt for the non-traditional, yet traditional diaper bag:

To all of you hot mamas out there, what are you sporting as your diaper bag?

    1. I am still debating, but as of right now it's looking like the Henri Bendel Miss Bendel Baby Bag might be the winner. =)

  2. Great article. I'm torn too, and I'm 2 weeks out from my due date! I really like the Henri Bendel bag. I tried it on in store and I think it could transition nicely to a work bag afterwards.
